Terribly Sad Picture

This is probably one of the most moving picture I have seen this year, so far.
To tell you the tale of how I came to find such a picture I must confess to one of my obsessions.
Japan.
I love Japan! The music, art, history, technology, clothing, EVERYTHING!
So, I on one of my favorite time killing sites, deviantART, and I was looking up pictures of Hiroshima.
And I came across this.
For those of you who need a history reminder:
August 6th, 1945
The USA successfully ended WWII by dropping an atomic bomb on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Nagasaki wasn't until three days later).
The exact time the bomb detinated was 8:15
The bomb killed over 70k in the inital blast, and over 200k in the next five years from the radiation sickness that plagued the area.
The picture above was taken in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Hall.

The atomic bomb was more than a weapon of terrible destruction; it was a psychological weapon.
—Former U.S. Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson, 1947

What I've Been Watching: Marie Antoinette (1938)

Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to watch Marie Antoinette.
This is one of those inspiring, feel-good, romantic, obnoxiously large dresses and terribly sad ending movies.
It portrays the true tale of the heroic Antoinette. She was an Austrian Princess who married the King of France's grandson, whom was next in line for the throne. When the grandfather dies, she is then crowned Queen. Unfortunately, the French Revolution takes a turn for the worst and the fear-infested people raid the palace and imprisoned the royal family.
To make a long story short, they all loose their heads. :) But thanks to the marvelous film skills of the 30's there are no gruesome scenes incorporated into this film.....they're just implied.

50's Dancing

This past weekend was probably one of my weekends of the year.
Now you may be asking yourself, "What on earth could have made this weekend so exciting?"
Well I shall enlighten you! :)
Last weekend I was able to go on a road trip to Turkey, Texas to partake in a 50's style dance!
Turkey is a tiny town just west of Childress.
I went with some wonderful friends up to Wichita Falls, where we met up with the wonderful people of Decatur!
The dance was put on by the wonderful Shannon Family, whom we had church and Brunch with the next day.
